President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver the closing remarks at tonight’s convention in Dallas.
\n\nRoss Ulbricht, creator of the dark web black market known as Silk Road, took the stage at the GOP midterm convention tonight to praise Trump for pardoning him and "hundreds of decent Americans."
\n\n"He felt compassion for me because he, too, was a target of a weaponized government," Ulbricht said of Trump. "He said that if the American people sent him back to the White House, he would free me. The day after he took office, he pardoned me."
\n\nTrump pardoned Ulbricht in January 2025 after he was sentenced to life in prison for creating a market where users could buy and sell drugs, fake identity documents and other illegal products.
\n\nHe thanked Trump tonight with tears glistening in his eyes and celebrated the other Americans whom Trump has pardoned from prison sentences. Trump also pardoned more than 1,500 Jan. 6 defendants in January 2025, including those convicted of violent crimes against police.
\n\nUlbricht, whose case had been championed by libertarians, called Trump's pardons "wins for liberty."
