\n\nTrump said in his remarks that the U.S. would "only encourage superintelligence" when it comes to AI development, a notable declaration as warnings about the potential catastrophic consequences of the technology have spread.
\n\n"We will only encourage superintelligence. We’re going to encourage it, not rein it in," Trump said, adding that the Department of Justice would "watch it closely."
\n\n"The United States leads the world in superintelligence and will continue to do so safely and responsibly," he said. "Americans have never been a nation that retreats from a frontier or shrinks from a challenge, no matter how great or how daunting that challenge may be."
