House Republicans are sending members home until Nov. 9, punting a vote on a resolution to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth until after Election Day.

Trump told the crowd in North Carolina tonight that gas and oil prices will "come down very quickly" after the war ends in Iran.

"You watch what happens to your oil, to your gasoline," Trump said. "It’s going to come down very quickly."

The president also touted the administration's deal with Venezuela to take control of 65 million barrels of its oil reserves.

The national average cost of gas currently sits above $4 per gallon, up more than 40% since the war in Iran began, according to data tracked by NBC News.

Trump repeated his calls for lower interest rates onstage in North Carolina tonight after railing against today's Fed hike on social media and in remarks to reporters.

"Interest rates in the United States should be 1% or less because we are the best credit in the world by far. With all that money pouring in, our country is booming with new investment more than anybody else ever," Trump said, echoing what he wrote in a Truth Social post.
