The storm weakened overnight after making landfall as a Category 2 hurricane near Destin, Florida.
\n\nThe number of electricity customers without power late tonight was around 872,144 nationwide, according to tracking website poweroutage.us.
\n\nNearly half, around 434,275, were in Florida where Hurricane Isaias made landfall on the state’s Panhandle at around 8:30 p.m. local time (9:30 p.m. ET).
\n\nAround 316,811 customers were without power in Alabama, the site said at around 5 a.m. local time.
\n\nGeorgia, which is expected to feel the impacts of the hurricane as it moves north, along with the rest of the Southeast, had around 93,152 customers in the dark, according to the website.
\n\nIsaias has weakened dramatically since making landfall last night as a Category 2 hurricane.
\n\nNow a post-tropical cyclone, Isaias has maximum sustained winds of 65 mph and was moving over southern Alabama, the National Hurricane Center said in its 1 a.m. CT (2 a.m. ET) update. It was heading north at 20 mph.
\n\nThe storm is expected to continue to produce gusty winds as it moves across Alabama and into the Tennessee Valley, the NHC said.
