Live updates: At least one person killed as Isaias pushes inland, further weakens

More than 900,000 people are without power, and the weakening storm still threatens flash flooding across the South.

The center of Hurricane Isaiah has moved out of Florida, but the threat of flooding in the state remains, Gov. Ron DeSantis told a press conference this morning.

\n\n

"There were wind gusts of up to 116 miles per hour near Santa Rosa Sound and over 100 miles an hour near Pensacola and Panama City Beach," he said. "Water levels were approximately 5.5 feet higher than normal."

\n\n

As of 5 a.m. this morning, he added, the storm has "weakened into a post-tropical cyclone, and those sustained winds are now down to about 35 miles per hour."

\n\n

DeSantis warned of forecasted rain totals of four to eight inches across the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend this weekend. "Water levels along Florida’s Gulf Coast are expected to continue receding throughout the day," he added.

A person was found pinned under a large tree in Pensacola during Hurricane Isaias, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said.

\n\n

A statement said that units were called to a "hazard complaint with a fallen tree" on Friday evening.
