President Donald Trump will deliver a speech to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on Tuesday.
\n\nU.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz told reporters that Trump’s remarks would highlight peace deals the president has worked on, U.S. actions in the Western Hemisphere and progress on his 20-point peace plan in Gaza. It will also touch on the “importance of ensuring that Iran never has a nuclear weapon,” Waltz said.
\n\nThe U.S. president traditionally addresses the general assembly each year.
\n\nIn 2025, Trump spoke for almost an hour, criticizing climate change and European immigration policies. But what grabbed headlines were mishaps before and during his appearance at the U.N., as the escalator carrying Trump and the first lady abruptly stopped and then the teleprompter with Trump’s speech broke early on in his remarks and he was forced to improvise.
\n\nTrump at the time blamed the U.N., insinuating intentional sabotage to humiliate him, while U.N. officials said the White House’s videographer “may have inadvertently triggered the safety function” on the escalator.
