Texas Democratic state Rep. James Talarico announced a massive fundraising haul for the third quarter, pulling in $64 million from July through September. His campaign noted in a press release that Talarico broke the record for a Senate candidate in the third quarter of an election cycle.

Talarico has raised more than $134 million throughout the cycle, almost entirely from contributions totaling $100 or less from more than 1.3 million individuals, according to his campaign

“Grassroots contributors from across Texas are coming together to end billionaire control over our politics and bring down costs for working families,” Talarico said in a statement.

Talarico's opponent in the Senate race, GOP state Attorney General Ken Paxton, announced earlier this month that his campaign and two other fundraising arms had raised a combined $18 million in the third quarter.

It is not yet clear how much money either candidate spent in the third quarter, or how much they had left to spend by the end of September, since they have not filed their campaign finance reports. Those reports are due to the Federal Election Commission by midnight.
