Evan Morgan will executive produce, with Rachel Kaplan exec producing via Abescon Entertainment
\n\nHulu is developing a series version of the 2020 movie “The Kid Detective,” Variety has learned exclusively.
\n\nEvan Morgan, who wrote and directed the film, is attached as an executive producer on the project. Alex Berger will write and executive produce. Rachel Kaplan of Abescon Entertainment will also executive produce, with Jonathan Bronfman and Will Woods — who produced the film — producing the series as well. Adam Brody, who starred in “The Kid Detective,” is not attached at this time.
\n\nThe logline for the series states, “When a missing persons case reopens the childhood murder he never solved, a washed-up former kid detective gets one last shot at proving his best days aren’t behind him.”
\n\nBrody starred as the titular kid detective Abe Applebaum in the film, which debuted at TIFF in 2020. The film was well-received by critics upon its release.
