In a competitive situation, Amazon MGM Studios is set to develop a series based on the short story “Shadow Work” by Adrienne Miller, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.
\n\nMiller will write the pilot for the one-hour series and serve as executive producer. Former Amazon exec Marc Resteghini will executive produce via Jack Tar Pictures, which has an overall deal at Amazon MGM Studios. According to sources, the producers fielded multiple offers before Amazon preemptively acquired it.
\n\nReps for Amazon declined to comment.
\n\nThe logline for the show states that it follows Genevieve Pearce, “an elite ghostwriter trusted with the secrets of the rich, famous, and infamous. She embeds in their worlds, excavates secrets, reshapes memories, manufactures redemption, and transforms the powerful into the people they want the world to believe they are. Because in Genevieve’s world, whoever controls the story controls reality. But as she rewrites everyone else’s stories, she’s forced to confront the first story she ever helped rewrite: her own.”
