The live-action “Gargoyles” reboot has turned to stone.
\n\nThe project, which was in early development at Disney+, is no longer moving forward, a source confirms to Variety.
\n\nIt was announced in 2023 that the streamer was working with writer Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster to develop a live-action version of the beloved Disney animated series, which aired from 1994 to 1997.
\n\nRumors that the reboot was not moving forward originated from an interview by ComicsOnline with Greg Weisman, co-creator of the original series. “That’s dead,” Weisman said when asked about the Disney+ project. “I have no idea about animation, but there are no current plans for live-action.” Weisman was not directly involved in the live-action reboot, but a source close to the project confirmed its status to Variety.
\n\nDauberman (“It”) would have served as writer and executive producer of “Gargoyles” 2.0 with Wan also executive producing. Disney Branded Television was attached as the studio.
