\n\nCinemaChile unveils its 2026-2027 catalog at the San Sebastián Festival on Sept. 21 where it has much to celebrate, with eight titles screening across seven sections, led by Pablo Larrain’s “My Sad Dead,” a 4-part Netflix series that has been combined to make a roughly three-hour feature that competes for the Golden Shell.
\n\nUnsurprisingly, the catalog proves that this tiny county of some 20 million inhabitants continues to punch above its weight, with the catalog reporting a 20.5% growth in Chile’s film industry compared with the 2025-2026 period.
\n\nSaid Gabriela Sandoval, a CinemaChile board member: “We have gone from 156 to 188 titles, which is clearly great news and demonstrates the strength of Chilean cinema, which has continued to grow over the past five years.” In 2021, Chile reported 139 titles.
\n\nSandoval notes that the latest figures bring further positive developments: Of the 188 films, 66 are directed or co-directed by women, while 100 are productions or co-productions featuring leading industry professionals.
