\n\n“The Force Awakens” had spent more than a decade as the biggest movie ever at the North American box office with $936 million. It has officially ceded the crown to Tom Holland’s latest Spidey adventure, which has surpassed that benchmark with $936.773 million after 47 days in theaters.
\n\nNow the question is whether “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has the endurance to become the first movie in history to generate $1 billion at the domestic box office — although that might be unlikely at this point without a re-release.
\n\nGlobally, Sony and Marvel’s epic “Brand New Day” has earned a jaw-dropping $2.45 billion. It’s the third-highest grossing movie of all time, trailing just 2009’s “Avatar” ($2.9 billion), “Avengers: Endgame” ($2.7 billion) and ahead of 2022’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” ($2.3 billion) and 1994’s “Titanic” ($2.2 billion).
