‘Point Break’ TV Series Greenlit at AMC, Canal+

The “Point Break” followup series has officially been ordered at AMC and AMC+, Variety has learned.

The modern update of the beloved 1991 action film was first reported to be in the works at the network back in December 2025. As reported at the time, the show hails from lead studio Alcon Television Group as well as AMC Studios and StudioCanal, who will co-produce. StudioCanal, a Canal+ company, will handle international sales and worldwide distribution outside the U.S. and Canada.

The first season of the series will consist of eight episodes. Production is slated to begin in early 2027.

The logline for the series states, “More than three decades after the events of the original ‘Point Break’ film, a new heist crew inspired by the Ex-Presidents has emerged and the FBI must rely on a mysterious ex-pro surfer with a checkered past to infiltrate them.”

Dave Kalstein and Christopher C. Rogers serve as co-showrunners and executive producers on the series. Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson executive produce, as do Alcon Television Group head Ben Roberts and Julia Cohen.
