\n\nAbout 30 Canadians and permanent residents are missing after catastrophic flooding in Nepal and the Tibet region, the Canadian government said.
\n\n“Given the extremely difficult circumstances on the ground, this number will fluctuate as new information comes in,” it said in a statement yesterday.
\n\nNepal said it does not need international assistance with search-and-rescue operations following the devastating flash flood, despite offers of help from several countries with nationals missing in the disaster.
\n\nHundreds of foreign nationals are still missing, including from India, South Korea, Australia and the United States. But Nepal said it was managing the rescue efforts.
\n\n“The offer for help is natural. Our security agencies are doing the search and rescue operation. For now we don’t require such help,” Lok Bahadur Chhetri, spokesperson for the foreign ministry, said today without providing further details.
