Melissa Barrera, who was fired from the “Scream” franchise due to social media posts criticizing Israel amid the war in Gaza in 2023, is voicing her respect for the musicians who have dropped out of Ed Sheeran’s tour following Macklemore’s dismissal over his support for Palestine.
\n\n“It was so beautiful to see Finneas and the band and all the opening acts pulling out in support of Macklemore,” the actress said (via AP). “It made me emotional. You know, I didn’t get that when it happened to me. I didn’t have any of that happen. It was too soon. People were too scared. But it’s good to see that almost three years later, at least things have changed.”
\n\nMacklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour after delivering a political speech and saying “Free Palestine” while onstage at the Sept. 4 concert at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The singer told the audience he wanted people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank to know they had not been forgotten. He was then dropped from the tour days later on Sep. 14.
