Lindsay Clancy and her legal team will return to court Tuesday, marking their first time back in the Massachusetts courtroom since her triple murder trial ended in a mistrial earlier this month.
\n\nThe hearing in Plymouth Superior Court is expected to cover the trial’s status, including next steps and whether the prosecution intends to retry the case or drop the charges.
\n\nClancy, 36, is accused of fatally strangling her three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — using exercise bands on Jan. 24, 2023. Her defense team, led by attorney Kevin Reddington, argued she was in a state of psychosis at the time of the murders, a result of the postpartum psychosis she was suffering from, and was therefore unaware of and unable to control her actions.
\n\nThe prosecution, however, said that Clancy knowingly planned the killings ahead of time, arguing for a first-degree murder conviction.
\n\nAfter a weekslong trial, the jury could not come to a unanimous decision. The group of nine women and three men deadlocked three times, forcing the judge to declare a mistrial Sept. 4.
