The United Kingdom led all territories in nominations at this year’s International Emmys, landing 14 nods total — including Disney+’s “A Thousand Blows” in drama and Netflix’s “Man vs. Baby” in comedy. Brazil followed, with nine nominations, then Spain with five.
\n\nMeanwhile, not making the cut was Bell Media/Crave’s “Heated Rivalry,” although a Bell Media rep confirmed that it had been submitted. “Heated Rivalry” was a phenom earlier this year both internationally and in the U.S., where it ran on HBO Max — but because it was a Canadian commission with no U.S. production partners, it wasn’t eligible for the Television Academy’s Primetime Emmy consideration. Hence, it was eligible for an International Emmy, but it wasn’t among the nominees announced on Wednesday.
\n\nBesides “A Thousand Blows,” other drama series that did make the cut included France’s “Carême,” Argentina’s “Menem” and India’s “Real Kashmir Football Club.” On the comedy side, besides “Man vs Baby,” nominees include Argentina’s “División Palermo — Season 2 [Community Squad],” Spain’s “Old Dog, New Tricks” and India’s “Vir Das: Fool Volume.”
\n\nAll told, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences revealed 64 nominees across 16 categories and spanning 22 countries.
