In Alaska’s Senate race, former teacher Dan J. Sullivan will join Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan and Democratic challenger Mary Peltola in the general election.
\n\nFormer state Sen. Mike Mazzei has secured the Republican nomination for governor in Oklahoma, NBC News projects, a victory for Trump’s preferred candidate.
\n\nMazzei narrowly defeated state Attorney General Gentner Drummond by about 2,000 votes in the GOP primary runoff.
\n\nThe initial June primary was also tight. Drummond finished in first place by just more than 1,000 votes over Mazzei. Since no candidate in the crowded field secured a majority, the race went to a runoff.

\n\nRepublicans have criticized the other Sullivan’s candidacy as a potential ploy to confuse voters in a key battleground race, which he has denied. Alaska’s election system might also blunt the impact of any confusion. The top four candidates, regardless of party, advance from Alaska’s all-party primary to a ranked-choice general election, meaning voters could rank both Sullivans.
