Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the team’s Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers with a blood clot in his calf, the team announced Thursday.
\n\nHurts first visited the training room on Oct. 8 for treatment on his calf the week following a loss against the Los Angeles Rams, according to an Eagles’ statement. On Oct. 10, the team performed an ultrasound on Hurts “out of an abundance of caution” after Philadelphia’s flight to London for its Week 6 game, when a superficial blood clot was discovered.
\n\nHurts still played every snap in the Eagles’ 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 11, completing 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards. He had his fewest rushing attempts of the season in the game, running only twice for two yards.
\n\n“Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that [Hurts] could safely play,” the statement read, adding that the quarterback “played without limitation.”
\n\nHurts received treatment on his calf on Monday and Tuesday, according to the team, and participated fully in practice Wednesday. A follow-up ultrasound Wednesday night revealed Hurts had a small blood clot, however.
