Halloween is coming a little early this year, as “Insidious: Out of the Further” is opening in theaters this weekend. The sixth entry in Sony’s horror franchise has made $3 million in Thursday previews at the box office.
\n\nThe new movie, which is a sequel to 2023’s “Insidious: The Red Door,” is aiming for a debut between $23 million to $27 million, which would put it in second place behind the $2 billion blockbuster “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Sony will have the top two movies at the box office this weekend as “Brand New Day” is on track to add $35 million to $40 million in its fourth weekend.
\n\n“Insidious: Out of the Further” will have a smaller opening than its predecessor “The Red Door” (which launched with $33 million), but it only cost $18 million to produce so it won’t take a lot to turn a profit.
