It might’ve been all about “Resident Evil” at the box office last week, but “Avengers: Endgame” is back on top — seven years later.
\n\n“Avengers: Endgame Encore” landed at No. 1 on Friday, making $11.2 million from 3,060 North American screens. By Sunday, the Marvel juggernaut should pull in around $26 million.
\n\nDirected by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the 2019 superhero film’s re-release comes ahead of the hotly anticipated “Avengers: Doomsday,” set to open in theaters December 18. At the time of its release, “Avengers: Endgame” became the second-highest-grossing movie in box office history, with $2.799 billion worldwide. (2009’s “Avatar” currently holds the record with a $2.9 billion worldwide gross).
\n\nA24’s highly anticipated “Primetime” took second place with $8.49 million from 2,874 locations. Rival estimates have the drama-thriller bringing in $20.5 million through the weekend.
