Authorities on Friday were searching for a glider involved in a midair collision with another in the sky over the Edinburg, New York, area.
\n\nNew York State Police said one glider landed safely at nearby Plateau Sky Ranch Airport, where its pilot emerged uninjured. The whereabouts of the other glider were unknown, it said.
\n\n“The investigation and search are ongoing,” Trooper Stephanie O’Neil said in a statement. “The public is asked to avoid the area to prevent interfering with the search.”
\n\nState police responded to a report of a collision just before 2:30 p.m. on Friday, she said.
\n\nThe crash prompted a sizable response from area first responders, according to Broadcastify radio traffic from the Saratoga County Fire and EMS.
\n\nAnother glider in the area reported seeing the collision.
\n\nNew York State Police said the collision took place above Wheeler Road.
\n\nEdinburg, a town of a little more than 1,300, is located in Saratoga County and is about 54 miles northwest of Albany.
