Two previously announced TV projects are being put on hold at DC Studios.

Variety has confirmed that both the Amanda Waller standalone series with Viola Davis and “Paradise Lost,” which would serve as a prequel to “Wonder Woman,” are no longer priorities for the studio and are no longer being actively developed.

Reps for DC Studios declined to comment.

“Waller” was first reported to be in the works in May 2022, roughly five months before James Gunn and Peter Safran were named the heads of what became known as DC Studios. “Paradise Lost,” meanwhile, was unveiled as part of Gunn and Safran’s initial slate of DC projects in January 2023.

Waller would have seen Davis return as the character she played in both David Ayer and Gunn’s “Suicide Squad” films. “Paradise Lost” would have taken place on the island of Themyscira before the birth of Wonder Woman. It should be noted that neither project was ever ordered to series.

Similarly, the “Booster Gold” show that Gunn and Safran announced as being in development in 2023 is also not moving forward, as noted by series writer David Jenkins.

Since taking over DC, Gunn and Safran have greenlit the upcoming HBO Green Lantern series “Lanterns” starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre and also oversaw the launch of “The Penguin,” though the latter show was picked up prior to their entry atop the DC Universe. They also launched the animated series “Creature Commandos,” which is returning for a second season.

DC Studios is also currently at work on a series in which Skyler Gisondo will reprise his “Superman” role as Jimmy Olson in a true crime mockumentary, with the first season set to focus on Gorilla Grodd. Jimmy Tatro will play Gorilla Grodd, with Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault showrunning.

The Ankler first reported that “Waller” and “Paradise Lost” were not moving forward.
